Since the early works of Moreno in the 30s, graph's analysis has become an intensive area of research which is no longer limitated to sociology. Indeed, the presence of a large range of data on the form of graphs is available in our numeric world. Besides, impressive progress has been performed in the modelling and analysis of these data.
Every year, CNRS (the French National Centre for Scientific Research) recruits permanent researchers in all scientific disciplines.
21 positions are concerned in section n°41, namely 'Mathematics and interactions of mathematics':
The ERC announced the awarding of its Consolidator Grants to 314 top researchers in Europe. The funding, worth a total of €605 million, will give them a chance to have far-reaching impact on science and beyond. The grants fall under the 'Excellent Science' pillar of Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme.
5 French Mathematicians were awarded a ERC Consolidator Grant:
Since 1897, the International Congress of Mathematicians has helped shape the history of mathematics in the 20th and 21st centuries. It is during this meeting that several prizes, such as Fields medals, are awarded.
Dynamical systems appear in various domains such as fluid mechanics, economy or ecology. Such systems consist in a phase space which parametrizes a system and in evolution laws which describe the evolution of this system. The first examples of dynamical systems come from celestial mechanics, where the phase space consists in the set of positions and speed of each of the planets, and the evolution laws are given by the differential equations of Newton's fundamental principle.
Random permutations have had a long history in statistic tests since Fisher, a century ago, investigated on whether a Lady could or could not determine which of the milk or the tea was first poured into the cup. The method of random permutations he developed yielded modern bootstrap approaches.
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum aims to create a scientific and informal platform to create links between 200 young researchers in mathematics and computer science from all around the globe and the laureates of prestigious prizes : the Abel Prize, the ACM A.M.Turing Award, the Fields Medal and the Nevanlinn
An online consultation on mathematics was carried out from 29 January to 15 May 2016 by the European Commission Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content & Technology (DG CONNECT). It seeked to inform the future Horizon2020 Work Programme (2018-19-20) with innovative mathematical content. Two facts motivated this request: today’s digital society depends on mathematics and algorithms; and there is a vast pool of mathematical talent in Europe.
